Oxytocin

$100.00

Oxytocin is a naturally occurring nine-amino-acid neuropeptide produced in the hypothalamus, studied extensively in research settings for its roles in social behavior, neuroendocrine regulation, and reproductive physiology. Investigations have examined its receptor-mediated signaling pathways.

Oxytocin (Cys-Tyr-Ile-Gln-Asn-Cys-Pro-Leu-Gly-NH2) is a cyclic nonapeptide hormone and neuropeptide naturally synthesized in the paraventricular and supraoptic nuclei of the hypothalamus and released by the posterior pituitary gland. It features a disulfide bridge between Cys1 and Cys6 and C-terminal amidation. Research investigations have extensively examined its roles in social bonding, trust, empathy, and reproductive physiology.

In research settings, oxytocin has been studied for its binding to oxytocin receptors (OXTR) and its downstream effects on intracellular calcium signaling. Published investigations have explored intranasal delivery as a route for CNS research, with studies examining its potential effects on social cognition, anxiety-related behaviors, and neuroendocrine stress responses. Clinical research has also examined its established role in uterine contractility and lactation physiology.

Supplied as a lyophilized powder for reconstitution. Intended for research purposes only.
